Phi
Phi Kayaking
Kayaking, canoeing and paddling in Phi
Phi Island has to be on the "must do" list.
A great way to see the best of Phi Phi, it offers limestone cliffs,
mangrove inlets, caves, and varied marine and bird life. It is a
very relaxed and leisurely way to explore Phi Phi, with utilizing
molded plastic kayaks that are taking two people. The ocean currents
around the Phi Phi islands are gentle, so it is very easy to paddle
to the adjacent beaches.
You
can rent kayaks along most of Phi
Phi Don's main beach. Rental is about 150 baht an hour.
But a better way to see all the sights may be to sign up for a daylong
kayaking tour around Phi Phi Don or to Phi Phi Ley and the neighboring
islands. You'll get a local's insight and plenty of snorkeling time.
Famous destinations for kayaking around the Phi Phi Islands are
Maya Bay on Phi
Phi Ley, four kilometers away from Phi Phi Don, the main
island with all the hotels on Phi Phi. It was the setting for the
famous Hollywood movie "The Beach" with Leonardo Di Caprio.
Also recommended is kayaking and snorkeling at Rantee Bay, Hin Phae
or Loh Samah, subject to the weather and sea condition.
Kayaking tours can be high energy and action packed with surging
waves, caves, and blowholes, or more gentle relaxed paddling, depending
on the season and the tour. Paddle during the day, visiting islands,
snorkeling and swimming or take a sunset paddle and return by torchlight
under the stars!
Even shark watching is possible! Meet the sharks for breakfast!
No this isn't "Jaws", but it's definitely "Up Close
and Personal" with Black Tips and Leopard Sharks...
